Willard Jenkins is currently completing work with Randy Weston on the jazz master's forthcoming as-told-to autobiography African Rhythms, composed by Randy Weston, arranged by Willard Jenkins.
As a producer, presenter, journalist, broadcaster, educator, arts consultant, and arts administrator, Willard Jenkins has devoted much of his life's work to nurturing the growth and enhancement of jazz music as a fine art form. Currently Jenkins is an independent arts consultant and producer under his own Open Sky banner. Among Open Sky organization clients are the Tri-C JazzFest (Cleveland, OH); 651 Arts (Brooklyn, NY); Aaron Davis Hall (New York, NY); New Jersey Performing Arts Center (Newark, NJ); Tribeca Performing Arts Center (New York, NY); Cleveland Education Fund; and the National Jazz Museum project (New York, NY). Much of Open Sky’s current activities include concert, festival, and concert series planning, artistic direction, consulting, writing, and production work.
