My Jazz Story

I love jazz because it is one of the most beautiful forms of music I've ever experienced to date. I was first exposed to jazz as a child surrounded by the sound of the music of jazz greats as their music soared over stereo speakers during social gatherings at our home. I can recall listening to some of the music of Lee Konitz, Tony Bennett, Chick Corea, Miles Davis, Jimmy Smith, Wes Montgomery, George Benson, Stan Getz, Yehudi Menuhin and other greats. The music of these artists is always fresh each time I listen to one of their session tracks. Listening to jazz is like the experience of looking up in the night sky and seeing the beauty of stars in their magnificence as they stand in their individual position in the galaxy. The sound of jazz always takes you to a new awakening in the imagination. My advice to new listeners is to listen to today's jazz and search backwards throughout the eras of the evolution of the sound of jazz. No matter what country we live in or language that we speak, we understand jazz.It is a university of artistic and creative freedom expressed through musical notes. Jazz is like art. It touches the mind, heart and soul.
