My Jazz Story

The first jazz record I bought was actually 4 CDs that I got at a Borders Bookstore. I had listened to jazz for years but had always bought mostly rock with a little blues and pop on the side. But this night I went over to the jazz section and picked out these four: Saxophone Colossus by Sonny Rollins, Portrait in Jazz by Bill Evans, All For You by Diana Krall, The Promise by John McLaughlin. I continued to shop at Borders but soon discovered the joy of reissued and remastered versions of my favorite albums / artist put out by special labels and now have two and three copies of some albums. In recent years I have mostly bought online. And I must confess that I now listen to a lot of streaming jazz on my iPhone.
