About Me

Mike Rubenstein Mike received a B.S and M.A in Music Education from Hofstra University and has studied the art of jazz and commercial trumpet with Jon Faddis and Christian Jaudes, classical trumpet with Dr. Leon Petruzzi, and Baroque trumpet with Kris Ingles. He has played on some of the countries biggest stages, including Jazz at Lincoln Center, Dizzy's Club Coke A Cola, the Kennedy Center, Birdland, The Garage a recording session for an album with Jonathan Batiste at NYC’s Blue Note which featured his trumpet hero Roy Hargrove and singer Roberta Gamborini, The Player’s Club of NYC, Zinc Bar, DROM, Shapeshifter Lab, Sullivan Hall, The Harvard Club, The Pierre Hotel, The Rainbow Room, the Roosevelt Hotel, Ellis Island, and was heard live all over the world on NPR’s “JazzSet” with Dee Dee Bridgewater. Mike also recently recorded an album with the Dave Lalama Big Band that is now being played on jazz radio stations all over the country and is available on Amazon and itunes . Mike is one of the NYC's most in demand composer, arranger, and transcribers for horn sections and is currently the staff writer for twelve bands located all across the world. He is also an accomplished working jazz and commercial bassist. Mike currently resides in Nesconset with his music teacher wife Kerri and seven year old son Matthew and two year old soon Cooper.

I love jazz because ever since hearing it in the early '90s, it's been the most important aspect of my life. Listening to it, playing it, seeing it live. I LOVE JAZZ!!!!
