My Jazz Story

The best show I ever attended was Chick Corea and Return Forever in 1973, at Pine Knob in Clarkston, MI. It was a Sunday matinee, and they were the opening act for the Dutch band Focus, who had a current top-forty hit, "Hocus Pocus". Chick & Co. stole the show. I had never witnessed such an electronic/accoustic melding of music. It was explosive, with Bill Conner on guitar, Stanley Clarke on bass, and Lenny White on drums. You had to be there.
