Julian Graciano
Tango /Jazz guitar player and composer From Argentina
About Me
Julián Graciano, learn music from the family roots, great-harpist, guitarist
grandfather and his father tango bandoneon player, nucleus where takes his
upbringing in a musical environment.
In parallel to his schooling, his first formal knowledge incorporates hand of
Professor Carlos Esteban, who guides him on solfege and music theory.
Gets the scholarship BEST (Berklee Entering Student Talented) at age 19 and MEFA
scholarship
(Massachusetts Educational Financial Authority).
Through these achievements pursuing higher studies at the famed Berklee
College of Music, Boston USA where it has the ability to perform
harmony and improvisation masterclass with Gary Burton, Chucho
Valdez and Bob Mintzer; jazz guitar with John Scofield, Mike Stern, Pat Martino and
latin jazz with Carlos Moreno (Irakere); polyrhythms and rhythmic concepts with
Horacio El black Hernandez and Steve Smith; composition with Jim Reyes and Alf
Clausen, among others.
He has taught the guitar chair, musical analysis and repertoire at the Conservatory
Argentino Galván and teacher of Liceo Superior del Tango in the chair scholar
tango and guitar in the tango Both institutions of the National Academy of Tango.
He has given seminars for the College Music Society on
history and evolution of tango and the music of Eduardo Rovira.
Masterclass on improvisation applied to Argentinean popular music in AADI
(Argentinean Association of Musicians).
For almost 20 years he teaches at particular guitar majoring in jazz and tango,
traditional and contemporary harmony, counterpoint, composition techniques,
arrangements and orchestration, ear training and improvisation.

Directorate of Cultural Affairs of Argentina.

The Real Book of Tango (book titled Real jazz) divided into five volumes with about
600 pieces in total and used by many contemporary tango musicians from various
parts of the world.
Complete Guitar Method Tango Edited by Melos / Ricordi Argentina in 2016,
exhausted the 1st edition a week of its publication.

Transcription of all kinds of works, commissioned and personal pleasure, from solo
instruments to tango orchestras.
As arranger of tango, has been requested by several groups and soloists from
different countries, such as Turkey, USA, England, Germany, Spain and Sweden.
As a sideman he has been summoned to join the jazz band Harry Waters (son of
legendary rock musician Roger Waters) playing several concerts in Buenos Aires on
2011.
Along with his trio Tango en Tres grouping which combines his two great loves,
tango and jazz, and where it says in exercising his passion for live performance,
improvisation and composition, has participated in the International Jazz Plaza
Festival, Havana Cuba, Festival de Jazz de La Paz and Santa Cruz de la Sierra,
Uruguay Jazz Festival (Jazz on the street 2008), has been invited by Maestro Juan
Falu in 2009 to Guitar World event.
In the field of research, was asked by Mrs. Mabel Rodriguez Rovira for ordering and
back catalog of work of Maestro Eduardo Rovira.
In mid-2014 he has started writing the Real Cuchi Book with music of Cuchi
Leguizamón and with this project has formed the trio Cuchijazz, musical group
which is a crossover between the music of Cuchi Leguizamón and jazz.Alongside
this group had the pleasure of welcoming guest pianist Ignacio Montoya Carlotto
and saxophonist Jorge Retamoza.
From 2015 meets the tenor sax Jorge Retamoza and form the Retamoza Graciano
duet, leading exploration in the mix tango with jazz to a place and a sound never
explored in the genre.
Currently 2016 has recorded the first CD of his quartet Graciano 4 quartet with own
works brought to the formation of two Spanish guitars, bandoneon and doublebass.
As a composer his catalog of works ranging from works for piano, solo guitar,
accordion, string quartets, various jazz and tango instrumentation sets, guitars,
vocal music, microtonal music and his Concierto para trio and symphony orchestra.
