About Me

Okay, maybe you'll find someone that loves music more than I but you'll have to search long and hard. It is the fiber of my being, the thread that helps hold it together for me, a common denominator that can connect us all if we only allow it to do so.

For now, I teach music. Hopefully, I will convey my love and passion for music to the young minds I have been given to shape and mold.

My Jazz Story

I wasn't exposed to jazz until I was a teenager in high school. That was traditional swing/big band stuff. That sparked the interest and desire and I went off exploring other types and forms of the genre. I now enjoy everything from hard bop to straight ahead to mainstream to anything that touches me inside. It has to swing or have a groove. I'm not into the whole avant garde or free form stuff. To me, it sounds like a bunch of beginning band kids warming up before the conductor stands up on the podium at the beginning of class. No offense to those that enjoy that type of stuff but it's not for me.
