My Jazz Story

I love jazz because...my husband loved jazz and was a jazz pianist and I learned to love it. I was first exposed to jazz...when I heard him play. In fact I fell in love with him while he was playing the piano. He looked up at me, smiled and winked...and that was it for me! His name was Tom David. He was the best piano man I ever heard. He could change keys for the singer in an instant. He also played a key bass, a Hammond organ, and a Rhodes electric 73. The latter 2 are for sale. The love of my life passed away in April 2012. A little bit of jazz died. The best shows I ever attended were all of his gigs, of course. He played locally, mostly, in the Quad Cities (Illinois and Iowa) from the 1950s through the 1980s and a little into the 1990s. My advice to new listeners...buy an old Frank Sinatra album and some Nat King Cole and his daughter Natalie Cole. Their music is easy. Work your way into heavier jazz. Personally I still prefer Frank, Nat, and Natalie! Then fall in love with a jazz guy. It'll change your life.
