About Me
My Jazz Story
I love jazz because...it is freedom and the forward use of all musical elements and thought. I was first exposed to jazz...by some of my Dad's records but mostly on the radio in the 60's then records. I met [musician name]...a lot of Beboppers and most of the first and second generation of Free Jazz. The best show I ever attended was...Steve Lacy in the 70's and Charles Gayle in the 90's, that was great and uplifting! The first jazz record I bought was...Charlie Parker on Dial records. My advice to new listeners...keep informed and an openness to the sounds and structure and not just the swing. Or whatever else you have in mind. Jazz don't sleep and it is a carnivore that eats and digests everything to create something new.
