My Jazz Story

Love is a difficult and almost impossible thing to explain, but one thing for sure, you know when it hits you. While living in Austin, Texas, I fell in love with jazz and blues when I first heard recordings of Aretha Franklin, Ahmad Jamal and Billie Holiday. Those were the first recordings that I bought. I was so inspired by these musicians, that I decided to let my life-long passion for singing flourish (a passion I had since I was a young girl in Cuba), and made music my career and my quest in life. Soon after, I reconnected with my Cuban roots and the music of Latin American via musicians & composers like Maria Teresa Vera, Beny More, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Emiliano Salvador, Leny Andrade, Elis Regina, and many more. I am lucky to live in Amsterdam, a city where some of the best jazz musicians and musicians from around the world can be heard live on a regular basis. I am also very lucky to have been exposed to jazz and many different styles of music early in life--this is the best way to expand your musical horizons and discover your own path.
