World traveled jazz singer Angela T. Clark is an amalgamation of Ella, Nancy, Nina, Natalie, Mel, Billie, Sara and Lena.

About Me

Performing in commercials since the age of 4, Angela was born in Orangeburg, South Carolina. A true Southern Belle, she has a dual degree in Theatre and Business from South Carolina State University. Her musical introduction began early under the influence of her parents love of jazz. She credits her style to a mixture of Ella Fitzgerald, Nancy Wilson, Nina Simone, Billie Holiday and Lena Horne. Her education into the intricacies of jazz styling was honed under the direction of Dr. Alvin Fulton and the South Carolina State University Jazz Ensemble and had the unique introduction to Jazz greats like Frank Foster, Jimmy Heath, Oscar Peterson and Carmen McRae. The first African American woman to hold the titles of Miss North Charleston, SC Queen of Roses and Miss Orangeburg County in the Miss South Carolina/America Scholarship Organization, she has performed in 76 countries and all 50 states as a singer, dancer and actress working as a performer in the cruise line industry since 1995. Currently living in Greenville, South Carolina, Angela was the Featured Headline Entertainer in “Stars”, an exclusive supper club with the six star luxury Silver Sea Cruise Lines on board the Silver Spirit. Her first live recording ‘Unfolding” featuring Alan Lee on piano was released worldwide on November 1, 2011 and is available on iTunes, Facebook and CD Baby websites. Thrilled about her first holiday album being released in November 2019, Angela along with 12 others was honored and inducted into the South Carolina State University 2019 Jazz Hall of Fame. Angela Clark's Serenadé is in the studio working on her follow up release “Unexpected” due out in the Spring of 2020.

My Jazz Story

I love jazz because how could you not love JAZZ! It's amazing and one of America's only original forms of music. I was first exposed to jazz because of my parents and their wonderful tastes in music. I met Frank Foster in college and he told me he loved the timbre of my voice. Sigh... The best show I ever attended was jazz singer Nancy Wilson. The first jazz record I bought was the Complete Ella Fitzgerald Song Books. My advice to new listeners always be open, you never know what you'll find.

My House Concert Story

Back in the 90's, my amazing parents wanted to create a fabulous opportunity for young artists in my community to be able to perform. So a group of us in the South Carolina State University Jazz Ensemble came together people and from that Valentines Day Concert, Jazz in Residence was born! Over the years we have had mainly Christmas Events in multiple cities hosted by family and friends. I cannot wait to bring this back this year. I will definitely keep you posted!
