Bobby Rodriguez Orchestra

Jazz Big Band

About Me

The Bobby Rodriguez Orchestra (18 piece Big Band) was formed in 1981, playing swing and Bebop from the 1940's. As the years went on their repertoire expanded and today the band plays a wide variety of Jazz, Pop, Swing, Bebop and Latin. A third of its members have been playing with the band for over 20 years, and have performed with the Miami Sound Machine, Stan Kenton, Maynard Ferguson, Woody Herman and Count Basie Orchestras.

My Jazz Story

I was first exposed to jazz in NYC. Even though, as a musician, I was playing & singing mostly R&B, after someone took me to see the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Big Band, followed by a concert with Ella Fitzgerald. I was hooked.
