About Me
Nova Scotia born, Toronto based musician Will Fisher is a Juno-nominated drummer and composer.
Known for his versatility and musicianship behind the drum set, he has toured extensively
throughout North America, Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean with highlights including the Tokyo Jazz
Festival, Port-au-Prince Jazz Festival, and Birdland Jazz Club.
Will is the recipient of the CBC Galaxie Rising Star Award and the Chico Berardi Award and has a
Masters of Music in Jazz Performance from the University of Louisville which he received on full
scholarship as a member of the Jamey Aebersold International Masters Quartet. Prior to that, he
attended Humber College in Toronto where he received a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance.
While studying, he had the opportunity to play with guest artists including: Jamey Aebersold,
Terence Blanchard, Lou Donaldson, Kurt Elling, Eddie Gomez, Antonio Hart, Chris Potter, and the
late Eugene “Snooky” Young,
His debut album, Portage, was nominated for ECMA Jazz Recording of the Year and has been
described as “an extremely satisfying moment of musicianship” (All About Jazz) and “a modern
mainstream jazz disc - stressing lyricism, tweaks on traditional forms and grooves, and the
personalities of its players.” (Ottawa Citizen). Will has performed with a variety of artists including
Aidan Knight, Barbra Lica, Carl Bray, Samantha Martin, and Zachary Lucky, as well as a who’s who in
the Canadian jazz scene including Mike Downes, Jim Lewis, Joel Miller, Kieran Overs, Nancy Walker,
Paul Tynan, Geordie Haley, and Tom Easley.
