My Jazz Story

I love jazz because of it's creativity and expression! I was first exposed to jazz by my brother playing some Cannonball Adderly I met Elvin Jones at a Guitar Center drum clinic in San Jose years ago and I'm not even a drummer but I wanted to ask him what it was like to play with John Coltrane! He said it was a great spiritual experience. The best show I ever attended was the Hollywood Bowl Jazz Festivals 1984-85, with Bill Cosby for the MC! The first jazz record I bought was a used Charlie Parker album My advice to new listeners is to not only listen to that person but listen to where he or she came from musically! Or whatever else you have in mind.
