About Me

I was born in Akron, Ohio and began playing piano at age 10. I've played with Cab Callaway and with my husband Jimmy Cheatham and with every jump blues or Kansas City Blues band. My autobiography will be published soon by University of Texas, Austin and the whole story can be told--the biting, prejudiies of a female, black pianist playing boogie and on the road all the time with men. I have been honored with the Le Hot Jazz award of Paris and performed in every major jazz concerts throughout Europe, Japan and the US. 10 cd's on the Concord label
