Jazz composer and pianist with strong classical roots

About Me

Pianist, Kerem Görsev was born in Istanbul in 1961. His musical education started at the Istanbul Municipal Conservatory in 1967, and continued at the Istanbul State Conservatory. His love for jazz began during his years at the conservatory and he has performed at the various clubs in Istanbul both with Turkish and foreign musicians. He has worked with many great artists. The list includes Ed Howard, Rabin Kenyata, Doris Troy, Vinnie Night, Eric Revis, LaVerne Butler, Allan Harris, Clifford Jarvis, Harvey Thompson, Russell Gunn, Steve Kirby, Alvester Garnett, Marcus Strickland and Elvin Jones.

Recognized as a talented composer and pianist, Kerem Görsev has created many different projects starting with his first album, “Hands and Lips” in 1995. Kerem Görsev released a total of 13 albums over the years, out of which two are in orchestral formats, both with strings orchestras. “November in St.Petersburg” was recorded with the St.Petersburg Academic Philharmonic Orchestra in St.Petersburg in 1999. The album consists of Kerem Gorsev's compositions. The second one is also his last album which was recorded at Abbey Road Studios with Philharmonia Orchestra, conducted by Alan Broadbent. “Therapy” features ten compositions by Kerem Görsev. Musicians on the album include Ernie Watts (tenor saxophone), Kağan Yıldız (doublebass), Ferit Odman (drums). Therapy was released in December 2010.

Kerem Gorsev’s other albums range from vocal duo albums with Allan Harris to various jazz combos, featuring different musicians including Eric Revis, Russell Gunn, JD Allen, Jason Jackson , Alvester Garnett and Marcus Strickland.

Kerem Gorsev released a special album, “Existence “, in 2002. In this album, Reyent Bolukbasi was the featuring artist with his cello on this album. All consisting of Kerem Gorsev’s compositions, this album’s concept was a meeting point between jazz and classical music.

Kerem Gorsev’s recent trio projects are “Orange Juice” and “Diversion”. Both albums consist of original compositions.

Kerem Görsev released his latest album “Therapy” in December 2010. The album was recorded at Abbey Road Studios with London Philharmonia Orchestra, conducted by Alan Broadbent . “Therapy” features ten compositions by Kerem Görsev. Musicians on the album include Ernie Watts (tenor saxophone), Kağan Yıldız (doublebass), Ferit Odman (drums).

Kerem Görsev had numerous concert performances in Turkey as well as performing at international festivals and events.
