FreshNotes, LLC (www.freshnotes.com) has launched the FreshNotes Content Recommendation Engine, which provides online publishers with a simple, cost-effective technology to increase reader satisfaction. The content recommendation engine allows web-based publications to easily and affordably provide “Related Article" suggestions on any content page. Aimed at increasing page views by focusing readers on interrelated content within a publisher's site or across domains, the service allows publishers to strengthen their online presence and increase advertising revenue while building brand loyalty resulting in higher traffic returns. The technology leveraged by the system utilizes entity recognition, relationship mapping, and real-time document integration and delivery. The patent-pending associative search system is easy to implement and just requires placing a few lines of JavaScript into the site's page template. The system works with any content management system on any platform.

The Newspaper Association of America measures that audience for newspaper web sites is growing at nearly twice the rate of the overall online audience. According to NAA President and CEO John F. Sturn, this accelerated growth “validates the industry's investment in digital innovation, and the ongoing attraction consumers have to newspapers online." Accordingly, he continues, “newspaper publishers have aggressively transformed their business models, continually providing ground-breaking content to consumers with their expanding digital portfolios." (Newspaper Association of America, 2007)

Although the audience has grown, newspaper websites must still compete with viewer usage of search engines to research and find information on topics of interest. By utilizing the FreshNotes system, publishers can offer a quick, convenient alternative to readers in search of related content. Maintaining readers' interest promises to keep visitors on their sites longer and encourage return traffic. Publishers can be up and running with FreshNotes within a week for an average cost of $100.00-$1000.00 per month.

Freshnotes CEO, John Collier, further explains the benefits of utilizing this service, “A website visitor reveals a significant amount of information about his or her desires by choosing to visit a specific webpage. We help publishers channel this intent to provide their users more of the site content they want. FreshNotes is enabling a broad group of publishers to quickly and affordably drive site visitors to desired information."

The FreshNotes system is not just for traditional news sites either. AllAboutJazz.com, the internationally acclaimed jazz website, has just started using the FreshNotes system to provide links to related content in both their articles and reviews sections. “I have wanted to address content recommendation for a very long time and FreshNotes has provided me with a solution. The 'Related Articles' box works flawlessly and has made an immediate impact on my website's page impressions," said AAJ founder and publisher Michael Ricci.

Originally founded in 2005, FreshNotes is a privately held company based in New Haven, Connecticut. Their team includes personnel with extensive backgrounds in software architecture, associative search engines, social networks, artificial intelligence, web development, marketing, and sales.
