About Me

David's musical experiences are broadranging including bossa nova, opera, soukous, avant garde, jazz, orchestra, Zappa and so on. He has performed and recorded with Cecil Taylor, Sam Rivers, Eugene Chadbourne, Davey Williams and other innovators. His compositions have been performed by the Florida Orchestra and Moving Current Dance Collective. David directs the EMIT series of adventurous music at the Salvador Dali Museum. He led avant-jazz groups Fluid Motion, SHIM and was trombonist/arranger for Bogus Pomp, a ten-piece Frank Zappa repertoire band. His Brazilian band O Som Do Jazz, released their debut CD entitled "Infinita Bossa" in 2008 and their followup "A Kiss for Rio" in 2013. His solo CD Beast, is an electro-acoustic trombone recording (http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/manson). David leads the Helios Jazz Orchestra and teaches jazz and recording arts courses in the MIRA program at St. Petersburg College. His original music has been used in the HBO series "Looking".
