Shepley Metcalf
Shepley Metcalf sings lesser-known gems and standards from the Great American Songbook.
About Me
The Boston Globe describes Metcalf as an excellent jazz/cabaret singer (who) is foremost a sensitive interpreter of lyrics. In 2008 she joined forces with the exceptional pianist and arranger Ron Roy, and they now perform at venues in New England and beyond. They specialize in lesser-known tunes written between the 1920's and '50s. Shepley's first album, new songs by lyricist Fran Landesman (Spring Can Really Hang You Up The Most) and Simon Wallace, received a four-star/excellent rating from Jazzwise Magazine. She performed this new songbook at Scullers Jazz Club (Boston), Davenport's (Chicago), Rrazz Room (San Francisco), and the Metropolitan Room (NYC). A show and album of songs by the '60s/'70s singer/songwriter Laura Nyro was Shepley's next project. Now in the works is an album of rarely-recorded tunes from the '30s to '50s, due for release in the summer of 2014.
