Dave Folman
Dave Folman is a jazz and blues saxophonist based in Boston, MA. He teaches saxophone and flute.
About Me
Jazz saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist David Folman grew up in Easton, CT, before attending Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY. He graduated in 2009 with a dual-major degree in music and political economy. At Skidmore he studied with saxophonist Mark Vinci, and added the flute and bass clarinet to his musical arsenal. In his short career, he has played all styles of music in and around Albany, New York CIty, Fairfield County, CT and most recently in Boston. From 2006 to 2008, was a member of Late Night Uproar, a rock band which toured around New England and played frequently in such NYC clubs as the Bitter End, the Knitting Factory, and Kenny’s Castaways. That band also saw Folman on NBC’s 2006 music show, Star Tomorrow. In 2008, Folman spent a few months in Argentina, where he studied tango and Andean folk music; it was a life-changing experience, and the influence can be heard in his music. Now based around Boston, MA, he can be heard playing from time to time with his trio and in other groups. He also teaches local private lessons on saxophone, flute and clarinet (see his teacher and clinician pages for more information).
