My Jazz Story

I have always wanted to feel what it would be like to play like Dizzy or Sonny Stitt. In other words, I wanted to experience what it feels like to be able to do something better than just about anyone else on the planet and have people appreciate it. Of course, I never realized that dream so instead I have dedicated myself to becoming one of the people who truly appreciate the genius of musicians like those that I named previously. Growing up in Chicago in the 70s provided me with an opportunity to familiarize myself with a variety of so-called "black music". Since jazz had pretty much receded into the realm of obscurity by then it was left to the elders of my youth to expose me to real jazz. Needless to say, I took to it like a fish to water. I have been on a remarkable journey of discovery ever since.
