About Me
My Jazz Story
I love jazz because...it engages the mind, heart and soul all at once. It's alive. I was first exposed to jazz by a pianist I met at a summer job during college: Horace Silver, Brecker Brothers, Thelonius Monk. I met Dexter Gordon, George Benson, James Moody, & Dave Brubeck. The best show I ever attended was "Two Generations of Brubeck", April 1975, University of Missouri, Jesse Auditorium. The first jazz record I bought was Stanley Turrentine, "Don't Mess with Mr. T". CTI. My advice to new listeners is to use internet radio such as Pandora to gain exposure to different jazz styles & tastes. You'll be amazed.
