About Me

Saxophonist, flutist, composer and band leader Fredrik Lundin is one of the major jazz profiles of his generation in Scandinavia. Since arriving on the Danish Jazz scene in 1981 this elegant and explosive musician has been searching relentlessly into the realms of contemporary music, respecting no boundaries. A truly original and virtuoso voice, performing in bands around Europe, such as his own 5 Go Adventuring Again, Offpiste Gurus, Fredrik Lundin Overdrive, Silhouette, as well as in the improv-trio Sound of Choice with Hasse Poulsen, Marilyn Mazur Group, Jon Balke magnetic North Orchestra, the jazz quartet Jonas Johansen Move, and the Lundin Danemo Kvintett, which he co-leads with Swedish drummer Peter Danemo, featuring the legendary Jan Alan.

Also he is a distinguished composer for contemporary ensembles, jazz groups and big band, as well as theater and modern dance performances. In 2016 DR Big Band (Danish National Radio) chose to present a full program of Lundin's music for big band with Lundin and Væring as featured soloists.

He's received numerous prizes and awards, among them two Danish Music Awards (Grammys) for best jazz release of the year, and the Ben Webster Prize for his musicianship.

My Jazz Story

I was first exposed to jazz as a baby. If I was upset, my parents always new to calm me, by playing jazz. Especially "Jazz på Svenska" by Jan Johansson. Lying in my dads lap, while he made conducting motions to the music of Jan Johansson was a sure way to make me happy again. I've been at it ever since.
