My Jazz Story

I love jazz because it is music with freedom of expression. I was first exposed to jazz at 10 by older art´s student, who needed piano accompanist for his barytonsax playing. I met a lot of musicians on my way / Lou Blackburn -trb, Jimmy Woode, Bill Frisell,Joe Newman, Herb Pomeroy, etc/. The best show I ever attended was Bill Evans trio in Vanguard / March 1978/ with Marc Johnson-bass and incredible Philly Joe Jones on drums. Backstage I have also met Freddie Freeloader / not tune but real person/. The first jazz record I bought in 60thies from rock guitarist in Olomouc, Czechoslovakia, was scratched LP "My Funny Valentine", Miles Davis Quintet with Herbie, Ron Carter, Tony Williams and G.Coleman. I am still trying to connect Czech and Moravian music with jazz / since 1970/, The Times, London have called me "Janáček of Jazz" in 1997.
