About Me

Gia Mora is an American actor, singer, and writer known for her work on Baskets (2016), Impress Me (2015), and True Detective (2014). In addition to film and television, she has an extensive theatre resume and has performed with companies including Arena Stage, Woolly Mammoth, the Kennedy Center, Ford's Theatre, and Michael Kahn's Shakespeare Theatre Company. She is a four-time Helen Hayes nominee and an Academy Company Member at New Musicals, Inc.

A third-generation jazz musician, Miz Mora frequently performs with her father, guitarist Rick Chinisci. Her critically acclaimed one-woman musical comedy, “Einstein's Girl,” has played to sold-out houses on both coasts. She is signed to Modern Songbook Records, which released “Einstein's Girl, The Album” and “Gia Mora Sings Charlie Barnett.” Her musical compositions have been heard on Minnesota Public Radio as well as in several films and TV shows.

Along with Taryn O'Neill and Tamara Krinsky, Miz Mora is one-third of Scirens--the screen sirens for science. Their work as a creative team promotes science literacy through entertainment. Scirens' half-hour comedy “MOMs” was a finalist in the 2018 New York Television Festival Scripts Competition.

Miz Mora graduated summa cum laude, with departmental honors, in Screenwriting/Playwriting, from the University of Colorado and received a diploma in Italian Language and Culture from the University of Pisa. She has also studied at Upright Citizens Brigade in Los Angeles and the National Theatre Conservatory in Denver.

An active member of the animal rescue community, she hopes to make Los Angeles a no-kill city. Miz Mora loves discussing politics, chatting green living, and snuggling her two adopted kitties.
