About Me

Katrina Yang is a music journalist with background in performance and composition. Born into a house of science and art, Katrina started her journey as a writer at a young age. She published her first e-book at the age of 14, which led to a two-year contract of serial fiction. As a musician herself, her ability to understand and connect to artists and their projects is imprinted in her writing. She regularly contributes to multiple magazines and sites.

My Jazz Story

I've been around jazz musicians for ages, but I started to appreciate jazz more seriously in the past few years. I read Miles Davis' autobiography a couple of days ago. I've studied jazz history at least three times, but never ever had it so imprinted in my mind. It tells and reflects the history of America from 1930-1980 in a very significant way. Like I truly know what happened, how each change was triggered, and who those people were. After I finished, I felt like it did something to me that I couldn't pinpoint, but it changed my perspective of jazz.
