Keith Hatschek

Jazz-loving educator, author and lifelong student of music and the arts.

About Me

After a 25-plus year in the music industry as a performer, engineer, producer and music executive, Keith Hatschek became a full time educator, directing the Music Management program at University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA for two decades. He has written three books on the music industry and in 2018 published a collection of more than 70 articles providing tips and career advice for emerging artists, titled The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the New Music Industry. Hatschek’s latest book is titled The Real Ambassadors: Dave and Iola Brubeck and Louis Armstrong Challenge Segregation and will be published in early 2022 by University Press of Mississippi. The book tells the story of the Brubeck’s jazz musical, The Real Ambassadors, and how the all-star, multi-racial cast fought to bring attention to the civil right movement at a time when America was struggling to address systemic racism.
