My Jazz Story

I was first exposed to Black Classical Music at the University of Mass at Amherst MA while attending early 70’s , for the undergraduate degree. I befriended Max Roach and my Revolutionary Concepts of African American Music and the instructor was no other than Professor Archie Shepp. The stories he would tell! Reggie Workman, Charles Magee Greenlee , Natalie Cole, Billie Taylor and Bright Moments Festivals, wow. I am a 35 year attendee of the Grand-daddy of them all Newport Jazz. While knowing and attending High School with the renoun Bassist Avery Sharpe. I taught my heart to sing is one of my favorite compositions by the late McCoy Tyner While the most memorable performances was the Branford Marsalis at Newport in the late 90’s early turn of the century. I am Black Classical Music, everyday! Look forward to meeting you all!
