Alex Blair

Jazz Vocalist & Composer

About Me

Powerhouse vocalist Alex Blair is quickly becoming one of DFW's most in-demand performers. Her musicianship stems from a deep-rooted love of pre-80's soul and an extensive background in jazz and musical theater. Alex Blair's sultry, velvet sound and unmatched on-stage presence make for a dynamic performance every time she steps on stage. Alex fronts the soul/pop band BLAYR, bringing a fresh take on old school soul. In 2014 Alex graduated with a degree in performance from the world renown jazz school at the University of North Texas. She has received numerous awards including a coveted jazz scholarship from the University of North Texas and outstanding performer at the Berklee College of Music Jazz Festival. She has an extensive history in musical theater, studying both vocal technique and acting with nationally recognized teacher and author Rhonda Carlson.

Not only is Alex a heavy hitting performer but she is also a recording artist. Alex has been working with Drive 35 Productions (drive35.com) as an on-call studio vocalist. Alex was recently recognized for her vocals on Downbeat Award winner Kyle Gordon's composition of “My Own and Only Love” (2016). You can hear her vocals featured on the UNT Jazz Singers Downbeat Award nominated album “I Can't Help It” (2015). BLAYR's debut album “Taste” released November 2017 and is available on all major music carriers. Her debut jazz album is set to launch in Summer 2018.
