My Jazz Story

Max Zenger (Finland, 1988) is a saxophonist and woodwind specialist who plays in various groups as a leader and sideman. He is comfortable playing and writing music in a variety of settings. Zenger’s style fuses elements from old and new jazz, influences of world music and adventurous improvisation. Zenger’s music has been described as “melodic”, “international”, and “at the top of the new generation in Finnish jazz”. In 2017, Zenger was awarded Pori Jazz Festival’s Talent of the Year prize. He was as well chosen for Artist of the Year for Turku Jazz Festival in 2018. Zenger has performed as featuring soloist with bands such as UMO Jazz Orchestra and Turku Jazz Orchestra. Max has won prizes as soloist and bandleader in Finland and abroad. In July Max Zenger Globus performed in Jazz in Marciac -festival in France, winning the 1st prize as best ensemble of the EBU competition. Under his name Zenger has released many albums with several bands and is constantly working on a project or two to develop his musical language and composing tools. Max's aim is to musically renew himself and to present fresh music with an individual touch.
