My Jazz Story

Or whatever else you have in mind. Since moving to The Hudson Valley in 2005 it's been a wonderful experience to get to know and work with the many great musicians in the region. A lifetime of on hands education. More attention ( in general) should be paid to jazz musicians deserving wider recognition. I don't feel I'm in the same class as many of those I've been fortunate to work with, but hope organizing The Hudson Valley Jazz Festival has helped in some way to raise the profiles of those deserving. And there are many. In 2015 with the support of a donor we were able to bring the late Wallace Roney to The Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center and honored to be interviewed by JazzTimes Magazine: "How To Build A Jazz Festival". A professional musician since 1972 and from the brief study with Mel Lewis, discovering jazz has been a gift. From the moment my good buddy Jeremy dropped the needle on "Four and More" to McCoy at The Vanguard to Brian Blade at The Falcon, it's always an eye opener. Here's to 50 more years.

My House Concert Story

During the 2020 Hudson Valley Jazz Festival at the height of the pandemic, I held 3 performances and an ongoing weekly series in my yard. Safely designed, limited audience.
