My Jazz Story

I love jazz because I find it to be the ultimate in creative expression. I was first exposed to jazz as a child listening to my mother's records. I've met many jazz artists after extensive travels and attendance at jazz festivals and venues. The best show I ever attended was Stevie Wonder's recent "Songs in the Key of Life" tour. Other favorites were Pat Methany's Unity Band, a reunion tour of Return to Forever, Gregory Porter, Kurt Elling, Betty Carter, Abby Lincoln among countless others! My advice to new listeners is to listen without prejudice to artists playing their instruments at the highest level. Why are so many so-called "jazz" festivals devoid of actual jazz music?
