Central Virginia Jazz Vocalist and Songwriter Education: 10 years piano, 2 years vocal studies. Cities active: Atlanta, Austin, Naples, FL, Greenville and Charleston, SC. Currently located: Lynchburg, VA Range: Low G to High C Able to Travel: Yes Other skills: Keyboards, set up and soundboard, road crew, marketing, promotion, driving, travel/logistics, herding cats. My Jazz Story

I love jazz because it's American, evolutionary, and it inspires me and provides a soundtrack for my life. My focus as a composer, lyricist/vocalist is highlighting historical phrases and melodies and working these into modern songs. My work with "Donna Kay & The Carousers" covered vintage jazz, boogie blues and western swing. My current project, "BellaDonna" (with Laurabella Owens) focuses on piano jazz arrangements of my original songs and many standards from the 1920s to 1950s. I also work with various talents in the area on composer-focused combos, including Duke Ellington, Harold Arlen and Cole Porter.

My House Concert Story

In 2022, I hosted a monthly jazz session in a local art gallery. Before you knew it, a new club space for jazz opened up, and two local restaurants began hosting jazz shows. Please contact me for more information about unique spaces in which to play if you plan to travel through Central Virginia.
