My Jazz Story

I love jazz because nothing speaks to my soul and heart more than anything but music other than God, soul, love and passion.
I was first exposed to jazz listening to Jim Hall.
I met Joe Pass at Seagulls' Showcase in Chicago and Art Blakey & George Benson Chicago Jazz Festival.
The best show I ever attended is one of the greatest, most loving and connecting soul singers ever, Gladys Knight.
The first jazz record I bought was John Coltrane "Impressions."
When I was a guitarist in the United States Navy Band, we were blessed to be chosen to go to Russia the weekend of July 4th weekend 1992. That moment in my life, music was confirmed as a TRUE international love language of its own. The Russian military big band and our Navy Band was not afforded a translator during rehearsals and performance. Yet, we all laughed, cried and connected unimaginably.
