My Jazz Story
Published on: 2018-05-07
I was four years old when I got my first jazz record. A Harry James compilation album. I already had a record player when I was as young as three years old!
The best show I ever attended was Wayne Shorter at the North Sea Jazz Festival in 1995.
I believe the first jazz record I bought was "Secrets" by Herbie Hancock. That started my interest in jazz fusion.
My advice to new listeners... connect with the (older) experienced listeners/fans. If they're well informed they can teach you so much of who's who, and why certain recordings are so good, valuable, unique and so on.
