My Jazz Story

I was fortunate to have studied jazz under the phenomenal trumpeter Lee Fortier. I was an alto sax player but he encouraged me to learn all four saxes as well as flute, and taught us so many things about the entire jazz world. I am now president of the Baton Rouge Blues Society which preserves and promotes the wonderfully unique music that flowed from the Bayous of South Louisiana during the 1950's and 1960's. One of the education missions is to bring that music to young student so they can learn how this was so influential to so many other musical genres.
