My Jazz Story

Laurie Dapice hails Utica NY. With a dream to become a singer, Laurie followed her calling to Manhattan. She is an alumnus of The New School Univ. of Jazz & Contemporary Music with a Bachelors Degree in Music & Jazz Vocal Performance. She traveled abroad as a Headliner to Japan, Laurie has Performed with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Wynton Marsalis & Chateau Le Choral, a 60 Piece Gospel Choir, under the Musical Direction of Damien Sneed, to perform the Original Abyssinian Mass, written by Wynton Marsalis performing in the Chautauqua Jazz Festival. Miss Dapice also performed as a Member-Vocalist with the Billy Harper Voices, a 60 piece Vocal Harmony Ensemble & performed the Original Compositions written by Billy Harper. Laurie also opened the Hudson River Amphitheater aside the Hudson River Library to Present a Concert of Ella Fitzgeralds Music Songbook in her home town of Yonkers NY. Laurie also performed in the annual Summer Levitt AMP Music Series at the Munson Williams Proctor Art Institute to a sold out Concert in a Landmark Museum & 300 seat Theater in her hometown of Utica NY. She performed a CD Release at this Concert. Laurie's debut CD "Parting the Veil" was chosen by 3 Esteemed Jazz Critics as 1 of the "Best Jazz Cds" of 2016 by Erie PA's Journalist, Historian & JJA's Bob Protzman. Protz chose Laurie's CD Parting the Veil for his 2015 "Best of Jazz Cds" List. He also wrote a Review in Downbeat Magazine about Miss Dapice & her CD & IT MADE DOWNBEAT'S BEST JAZZ CDS OF 2016 MAGAZINE! Writer, JJA Member Grammy Voting Member & Producer Arnaldo DeSoutiero also voted for Laurie Dapice's CD Parting the Veil on his 2017 Best Jazz Cds list For "Best Jazz Album" & "Best Jazz Vocals!" & Esteemed Journalist W.Royal Stokes also Nominated Laurie's CD for his Notable CD'S list! The cd is on rotation & still broadcasting 6 years later on a host of Jazz Radio Stations here in the U.S. Laurie Dapice is continuing her Piano studies & intends on recording another CD in the near future.
