My Jazz Story

I love jazz because it allows me to interpret songs via my own life experiences and my own emotions. I was first exposed to jazz by my mother who loved the music of Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Dinah Washington, Sarah Vaughan, and Della Reese. The first live show I ever attended was my very favorite and biggest influence on my singing—Nancy Wilson, at the Coconut Grove in Los Angeles. As a very young girl, I always asked for her albums for birthday and Christmas gifts. My advice to any vocalist is not to put off doing what you love to do. If music is your passion, pursue it. Make that dream a reality. You will know if that is what you are meant to do by the sheer happiness derived from performing.

My House Concert Story

I have hosted several house concerts, and have always had a good response. I think people really enjoy being able to casually mingle, have some good food and relax for an afternoon of jazz. I love taking pictures of everyone having a good time.
