My Jazz Story

I love jazz because...it's the purest art form I can think of. I was first exposed to jazz...as a child in New Orleans. Later I learned there was also jazz in other cities too (boy, was I sheltered!). I met Charlie Harrington...in New York City and was blown away. I also met John Riley and was equally impressed. Louie Bellson is one of the nicest men I've ever met. The best show I ever attended was...Maynard Ferguson. The NBC Tonight Show Orchestra was a close second. The first jazz record I bought was...Space Shuttle, Buddy Rich. My advice to new listeners...listen with an open mind and listen often. What at first may not seem to be your cup of tea could involve into the love of your life.
