Bray Jazz

Bray Jazz Festival is the longest established contemporary jazz festival weekend taking place in the Greater Dublin Area, each year.

About Me

Bray Jazz Festival is the largest and longest established contemporary jazz festival weekend in Ireland.

The event was established in the Millennium year, and in the past 17 years has hosted many of the leading figures in contemporary jazz, since then.

The event has built a strong reputation for bringing to Irish audiences some of the emerging voices in contemporary Scandinavian jazz - and in recent years has hosted concerts featuring Tord Gustavsen, Mats Eilertsen, Mathias Eick, Trygve Seim, Frode Haltle, Marius Neset, Jan Lundgren, amongst others.

Leading name American players including Dave Douglas, Ambrose Akinmusire, Stefon Harris, and Steve Coleman have all played Bray Jazz, as have such figures from contemporary European jazz as Tomaz Stanko, Louis Sclavis, Sylvain Luc, Henri Texier and Wolfgang Mutspiel.

The festival takes place each year on the May Bank Holiday weekend, and hosts up to 40 concerts, recitals and jazz trail shows at theatre, hotel, bar and other venues in the seaside town.

“One of the very best small jazz festivals in Europe” - All About Jazz ”The connoisseur's jazz festival” - The Irish Times ”A little gem” - The Irish Independent
