Ferdinando Argenti Trio: Live At The Sahara

Read "Live At The Sahara" reviewed by Edward Blanco

Boston-based pianist/vocalist and composer Ferdinando Argenti, originally from Pisa, Italy, delivers an impressive live recording entitled Live At The Sahara, recorded with a trio at the Sahara Club in the town of Methuen, north of Boston. Argenti designs an excellent set of instrumentals and vocals from the contemporary jazz cannon combining music from The Great American Songbook with jazz standards a soft bossa nova, a Latin favorite and one Italian love song to make this session a varied and entertaining ...

Ferdinando Argenti Trio: Live At The Sahara

Read "Live At The Sahara" reviewed by Roger Farbey

Italian born but now Massachusetts-based resident Argenti is a pianist with multifarious talents which are abundantly showcased in this live trio session recorded in 2013. The opener, “Bloomdido," immediately signals that this band is on fiery form, doing superb justice to Charlie Parker's famous standard. Ferdinando Argenti: Look For The Silver Lining

Read "Look For The Silver Lining" reviewed by Roger Farbey

Ferdinando Argenti, who originally hails from Pisa in Italy but now resides a few miles outside of Boston, is a musician of diverse talent, not just in his piano playing and singing, but also in his compositional skills. Meanwhile his own “Pitero" sees Argenti employing a melodica, a relatively rare instrument in jazz and which provides a harmonica-like ...

Ferdinando Argenti: Argenti

Read "Argenti" reviewed by Jim Santella

His developmental environments have helped to determine the eclectic nature of Ferdinando Argenti's small group jazz album. As a graduate of the Berklee College of Music in Boston, the pianist has immersed himself in the world of improvisation. His piano trio original “Pisa Nova" smokes. As a native of Pisa, Italy who grew up listening to his father's record collection, Argenti has a full grasp of swing. When he sings and explores the keyboard, you can hear evidence of his ...

Ferdinando Argenti: Argenti

Read "Argenti" reviewed by Dave Nathan

Italian born Ferdinando Argenti started with piano lessons at the age of seven. Moving to the U. S. in 1984 he attended Berklee College of Music where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. Over the years, the pianist/vocalist has worked such jazz notables as Chet Baker , Lee Konitz and Kenny Wheeler.

On this album, Argenti reveals a free wheeling style, using the complete keyboard as he runs through a play list of standards and his originals. He also sings, in ...
