In his debut recording on Philadelphia's home-grown jazz label, Encounter Records, vocalist-or maybe more appropriately vocalesist-Ken Shepherd proves that scat singing isn't exclusively the domain of relatively few male singers such as Jon Hendricks or Kurt Elling.
