The pathway twists many times, one environment giving way to another. A sunny beach becomes a parlor: “Rondo Baiao" starts earthy, a berimbau creeping through a mess of rattles. For his second album, pianist Marcelo Zarvos has written a volume of chamber jazz pieces that maximize the lyrical nature attained when interweaving soprano saxophone, cello, and piano melodies.
