The terms “Scandinavian" and “Nordic" (synonyms for the purpose of this review) jazz usually conjure up thoughts of ECM's echoey production, Jan Garbarek's atmospheric sax musings and pastoral landscapes. Yet that definition is rather limited and more than a bit quaint.
