The Black Nothing: Paths
Un marcato eclettismo caratterizza e alimenta questo singolare lavoro, opera di un ensemble danese di cui non risulta trasparente l'indirizzo estetico, se non proprio facendolo coincidere (non sarebbe un caso isolato) con questo melting pot di input, aree stilistiche, atmosfere e infiltrazioni varie.

Ci sono momenti di taglio che potremmo definire contemporaneo (pur magari sui generis), ritrosie e minimalismi vari accanto a sezioni più estroverse e corporee, una presenza elettronica non episodica, fiati e voci in altri frangenti (non che i due emisferi si escludano a vicenda, per carità), qualche intarsio cameristico (per esempio in "In Paradise We Dream," o anche in "Are the Cows Afraid," persino con qualche spigolosità), descrittivismo filmico, momenti fin troppo disinvoltamente generici e altri invece in possesso di una spiccata personalità.

L'eclettismo di cui dicevamo all'inizio si conferma quindi, ad ascolto ultimato, pregio, e magari insieme limite, di un album comunque non banale, anche se alla fin fine fisiologicamente dispersivo.
