Mathias Kielholz è un chitarrista svizzero che non soffre le divisioni di genere. Anzi, a ben guardare, utilizza il panorama degli stili musicali come una perfetta tavolozza di colori in cui intingire la sua creatività.

Dopo un paio di esperienze fatte con gruppi locali ethno-folk (Echo) o in band free jazz (Kieloor Entartet o i Bermuda Viereck di Martin Schlumpf) l’artista ha voluto focalizzare il suo composito background ideando questo suo debutto bipartisan.

Ecco perché non ha timore di citare “Gute Nacht” di Franz Schubert; di immaginare un divertito ska in tempi dispari (“Ska Maria Navarrese”) e ravvivarlo con i suoi spumeggianti arrangiamenti; né di schitarrate hard (“Makossa Variations: Tribute to Ska P”) o di incursioni nel folk (Irish Root Medley) o nella più accomodante estetica lounge simil Burt Bacharach (“Banga”).

Lo accompagna la Sunny Strings, una coloratissima orchestrina composta dai migliori musicisti svizzeri con un paio di guest star (Joe McHugh, uileann pipes, e Julio Barreto, percussioni).

Opening, ridente e bucolico, pastorale e brillante è un cd che sembra un campionario di misture.

Per oltre un’ora la Svizzera sembra un paradiso alle Antille.
