Rogerio Boccato: No Old Rain

Per il suo album d'esordio, il batterista brasiliano Rogerio Boccato rende omaggio alla sua tradizione musicale reinterpretando alcune delle più celebri canzoni brasiliane del Novecento. I classici standard di Milton Nascimento, Toninho Horta, Egberto Gismonti, Edu Lobo sono stati qui fantasiosamente rivisitati, trasponendone creativamente gli accenti in tempi jazzistici.

Questo felice percorso discografico è la diretta conseguenza per il leader di formative collaborazioni al fianco di Maria Schneider, Kenny Garrett, John Patitucci, Fred Hersch, Danilo Pérez, Billy Childs. Da questi maestri è stato qui tratto un insegnamento indelebile, debitamente trasferito sulle scelte timbriche e sul sound di gruppo.

C'è tanto talento messo in campo, che porta il leader ad affrontare il materiale interpretato in maniera di volta in volta cangiante, voltandolo e rivoltandolo con soluzioni varie ed articolate, attinte ai vari stili del jazz moderno. Le reinterpretazioni di "Tango" e "Viver de amor" possono essere elevate a simbolo di una volatile fantasia, rivolta a rivestire i brani appena citati rispettivamente di avanguardia jazzistica e post-bop. Il Fender Rhodes di Nando Michelin conferisce alla testura musicale un'aura danzante, a tratti funkeggiante che proietta la dimensione della bossa nova verso un sound contemporaneo.
