Vocalist KENNY WASHINGTON can be heard at the Jazzschool/La Note, 2377 Shattuck Avenue in Berkeley on Sunday, June 4, at 4:30 pm. Seating is limited and advance reservations are suggested: (510) 845-5373.

Described as a combination of Al Jarreau and Bobby McFerrin, Washington sings with a warm and appealing voice, impeccable intonation and boundless creativity. His renditions of standards are unique and intriguing.

He will be accompanied by Noel Milanio on piano, Mike Bacile, bass, and Mark Lee, drums. Susan Muscarella, founder and Director of the Jazzschool says, “Kenny is astounding. He scats like a horn player. He is so musical, so interesting. He is fearless, definitely not afraid to take chances. We musicians love to play with him. His interpretations are sophisticated and amazing in their complexity. Kenny is full of energy and joy!"

As a bandsman with the U.S. Navy from 1987 through 1995, Washington performed in clubs and Naval installations in Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Guam, Australia, the Philippines, Russia and throughout Asia. Since then he has done commercials for McDonalds, worked on radio, and performs regularly at nightclubs and other venues.
