The Grammy award-winning New Orleans Jazz Orchestra will celebrate its nineteenth season with the first annual Big Beat Gala fundraiser hosted by Big Freedia on Saturday, December 4th. The gala is co-chaired by renowned author Walter Isaacson, Laverne Toombs, Executive Director of the New Orleans Black Regional Chamber of Commerce, and Adonis Rose, Artistic Director of the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra.
Songs: The Music of Allen Toussaint, was the fourth studio recording by the Orchestra and the first under new Artistic Director Adonis Rose. Toussaint, one of New Orleans's most well-known composers, wrote the classic tunes Java, It’s Raining, Southern Nights, and Working In A Coal Mine which all get fresh large ensemble interpretations. Other tunes associated with Toussaint, but not necessarily written by him, such as the classic Tequila, are also on the playlist. Adonis Rose and the NOJO will deliver a raucous and swinging tribute to a true American music original at the New Orleans Jazz Market for this special occasion.
A live-stream performance will be available via Mandolin; tickets can be purchased via the link below.
