The Corinne Mammana Quartet featuring guitarist Frank DiBussolo will appear at Chris' Jazz Cafe on Tuesday, December 16. Shows run from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. and tickets are $10. Chris’ is located on 1421 Sansom Street in Philadelphia. For reservations or more information, call 215-568-3131.

Jazz singer Corinne Mammana has an extensive background in theater with some imposing credits, including several stints off-Broadway. Jazz Times profiled her recently, saying, “Mammana bridges a sometimes difficult gap between what is obviously her seriously and classically trained vocal instrument, as applied to a lightly swinging book of songs. Her superb technique is a dead giveaway. But she applies her superior technique gracefully, carefully, tastefully and intelligently. Veteran guitarist and educator DiBussolo, always a technical marvel, has mellowed with the years and has evolved into an inventive and tasteful soloist, evidenced by his newest recording, Songs to Write Home About. Also featured in the Quartet are reedman Dave DiPalma, and two-thirds of the charismatically swinging All-Star Jazz Trio, bassist Bruce Kaminsky and drummer Bruce Klauber.

Veteran master guitarist and jazz educator Frank DiBussolo, a South Philadelphia native, was also profiled not long ago in Jazz Times. DiBussolo, like many of those young guns back in the day,” said Jazz Times, “were, above all, out to prove they were the ‘fastest in the west. No doubt DiBussolo was, but with the years, he has mellowed as an inventive and tasteful soloist, evidenced by his newest recording, Songs to Write Home About.

This Quartet which works frequently in New York City, at the prestigious Deer Head Inn and in clubs and concerts in their native Bethlehem, PA., specializes in jazz versions of the Great American song book. Also featured are the swinging and versatile Dave DiPalma on saxophone, and two-thirds of the charismatically swinging All-Star Jazz Trio, bassist Bruce Kaminsky and drummer Bruce Klauber.
